Fat Dad Update #1

It has been a few weeks since I wrote “I am too Fat to Play With my Kids”.  My wife and I have been ramping up to a better eating and healthier lifestyle.  We both have done some moderate exercise but it really hasn’t amounted to very much for my weight loss.

Our church has started this book called The Daniel Plan.  We bought the book last week and my wife purchased all the foods needed for the first 10 days of the plan which essentially is a detoxing.   We started it on Sunday, March 16, 2014.  To be honest the food has been very healthy but not the tastiest.  It’s quite a bit of work to prepare these meals and my wife has been a rock star making sure the meals are ready for the both of us each day.  To be honest, if it wasn’t for my wife I would be struggling with making meals (the consistency of making them).

I have lost roughly 6 pounds in 3 days as I weighed about 268 pounds on Saturday, March 15, 2013 and weighed in at 262 today.  I haven’t exercised very much over the past week as I am recovering from a cold but I anticipate walking on the treadmill everyday going forward.

Struggles for the Fat Dad

I like to munch on food late at night.  The wife caught me midnight snacking last night.  I was in the kitchen and the wife was in bed.

Wife: What are you eating Andrew?

Me: (in a song voice) Go to sleep, go to sleep

Wife: You need to stop eating so late

Me: I don’t know what you are talking about.  Everything I have eaten is healthy (and it was)

Wife: So far I can tell (through the noise mind you) you have eaten celery with hummus and string cheese. What else did you eat? (By the way, she nailed it)

Me: (laughing and drinking a protein drink) Don’t worry about it wife.  I am way under 2000 calories for the day.

Wife: (irritated)

gun showIt’s tough because I get a lot of work done on my blog, podcast and videos at night when everyone is in bed sleeping.  There are no distractions typically during that time of the day.  The later I am up however the hungrier I become.

So far my focus is basically to eat whatever the wife tells me to eat on the Daniel Plan.  My wife, sister in law and brother in law are also giving this journey a try.  It will be very cool to show my tummy fat to a tummy flat.  Oh, and wrestling season started again.  Flirting with the idea of training again.  Just flirting with it.

Andrew
